The CS Asia Championships 2026 group stage reaches its final day in Shanghai, and the playoff picture is almost complete. Falcons and Legacy clash in the Group A upper bracket final at 11:00 CST, with B8 and MIBR running it back on the Group B side. Winners go straight to the CAC 2026 semifinals. Losers drop to quarterfinals.
Six teams will make the single-elimination playoff bracket. Four are locked. Two more spots depend on today’s lower bracket finals.
How We Got Here
Group A played out close to script. Falcons topped the upper bracket after a scrappy 2-0 over M80 (19-15 Inferno, 13-11 Ancient), the kind of series where karrigan‘s squad won every close round without looking comfortable doing it. Legacy, the defending CAC champions, handled TYLOO and NRG to secure the other upper bracket spot. MOUZ had the roughest opening day of any top-10 team at the event, losing their Bo1 to TYLOO on Inferno 7-13, but clawed back through the lower bracket with wins over NRG (2-1) and M80 (2-1). xertioN carried hard in the elimination rounds. MOUZ play paiN today at 18:00 CST for the third and final Group A playoff berth.
Group B belonged to MIBR from the first map. The Brazilians dismantled PARIVISION 13-6 on Mirage, 13-4 on Ancient in a series that lasted barely an hour. insani posted a 1.80 rating with 38 kills to 23 deaths and a monstrous 2.38 rating on Ancient alone, going 7-0 in opening duels across the first half. That is the second-best single-map rating of his career at MVP events. B8 matched the pace by upsetting The MongolZ 2-1 (13-11 Ancient, 11-13 Nuke, 13-9 Mirage), with npl leading the charge at a 1.50 rating. The MongolZ survived elimination yesterday by beating Liquid 2-1 and face PARIVISION today at 14:00 CST for the last Group B spot.
Today’s Matches
Falcons vs Legacy (Group A Upper Final, 11:00 CST). The winner skips quarterfinals entirely and lands in the semis. Falcons are the HLTV #4 team with the most expensive roster in CS2, but karrigan, NiKo, m0NESY, TeSeS, and kyousuke have not looked like a finished product yet. Tight maps against M80 and BC.Game suggest the structure is still being built. Legacy have arT calling aggressive CS, latto and dumau hitting shots, and the confidence of a team defending their title. They won CAC 2025 and finished third at IEM Atlanta last week. This should go three maps.
B8 vs MIBR (Group B Upper Final, 11:00 CST). B8 arrive off a strong IEM Atlanta run and that MongolZ upset. alex666 and npl have been the standout duo. MIBR have the form advantage after demolishing PARIVISION, and insani is playing at a level where he can take over any map. The winner joins Falcons or Legacy in the semis.
PARIVISION vs The MongolZ (Group B Lower Final, 14:00 CST). Elimination match. PARIVISION’s collapse this season continued in Shanghai with a humiliating loss to MIBR. Jame‘s squad won just two T rounds out of 19 available across both maps. The MongolZ beat Liquid yesterday and carry more momentum, but PARIVISION still hold the higher ranking at #7 world versus The MongolZ at #8.
paiN vs MOUZ (Group A Lower Final, 18:00 CST). MOUZ need this win to justify the jL loan from NaVi and the xelex promotion from MOUZ NXT. paiN brought in saffee and piriajr this window and have looked competitive without being dominant. Loser goes home before the playoff stage even starts.
CS Asia Championships 2026 Playoffs Format
The six teams that emerge from today’s group stage enter a single-elimination bracket at the Shanghai Yuanshen Gymnasium. Group winners go to semifinals. Second and third-place finishers start in quarterfinals. All matches are Bo3 except the grand final, which is Bo5. The total prize pool sits at $1,000,000 ($400,000 player share, $600,000 club share).
What to Watch
This is the last Tier 1 event before the IEM Cologne 2026 Major. Every team here is building toward that tournament, and CAC form will shape expectations heading into the biggest event on the Counter-Strike calendar. Falcons need to prove their roster works at full speed. MIBR need to show that insani’s level holds against better opposition. B8 need to confirm they belong here. And MOUZ need to survive, period, or face serious questions about their rebuild.
The group stage finishes today. Shanghai gets loud tomorrow.
