Perfect World dropped the CS Asia Championships 2026 groups and opening matchups today, and the draw handed the tournament its dream opener on day one: Falcons vs BC.Game in Group A.
NiKo against s1mple. Shanghai. Bo1. The two players who defined the PGL Stockholm Major 2021 grand final now meet on opposite sides of a completely different war. karrigan calls for Falcons. ScrunK, a converted analyst, calls for BC.Game. The gap in firepower is thin. The gap in structure could not be wider.
The CS Asia Championships run May 20-24 in Shanghai with $1,000,000 on the line and 16 teams split into two double-elimination groups. Opening round is Bo1. Everything after goes Bo3. The final is Bo5. Six teams advance to a single-elimination playoff bracket. This is the last S-Tier event before the IEM Cologne Major 2026, which makes every map played here a statement of intent.
Group A: Falcons Lead a Stacked Draw
Falcons enter Shanghai as the highest-ranked team in the field and the clear favorites in Group A. This will be karrigan’s second tournament leading the Saudi-backed roster after his debut at PGL Astana this week. The Dane replaced kyxsan on April 20 and inherits the most expensive lineup in CS2: NiKo, m0NESY, TeSeS, kyousuke, and zonic coaching from behind. Two weeks between Astana and Shanghai is not much time to build chemistry, but karrigan has rebuilt rosters before. He returned to FaZe in late 2021, assembled the pieces around him, and that team won the PGL Antwerp Major six months later.
BC.Game sit at the other end of the stability spectrum. The org benched MUTiRiS and aragornN after failing to qualify for the Cologne Major and crashing out of PGL Bucharest in groups. Senzu, loaned from The MongolZ, slots in as the fourth core player alongside s1mple, electroNic, and krazy. The fifth spot goes to ScrunK, BC.Game’s analyst turned emergency IGL. He will call for IEM Atlanta and Shanghai before the org searches for a permanent leader post-Major.
Senzu brings firepower. He posted a 1.21 average rating across 52 maps at Passion UA and finished 13th on HLTV’s Top 20 Players of 2025. But firepower was never BC.Game’s problem. Communication and structure were. Adding a Mongolian player who spent two months in a Ukrainian org to a lineup already split between CIS and Portuguese players does not scream cohesion. ScrunK’s IGLing from a coach’s chair compounds the uncertainty.
The rest of Group A: MOUZ face TYLOO in what should be a comfortable opener, though MOUZ themselves are running an experimental roster. jL joins on loan from NAVI alongside xertioN as IGL, with Brollan returning only for the Major due to roster restrictions. xelex, Spinx, and torzsi round out the five. Legacy, the defending CAC champions, paiN, M80, and NRG fill the remaining slots.
Group A:
- Falcons
- MOUZ
- Legacy
- paiN
- M80
- NRG
- TYLOO
- BC.Game
Group B: PARIVISION and MongolZ Headline
PARIVISION vs Liquid opens Group B, and it is a brutal draw for Liquid, who have struggled to find form even after adding malbsMd. PARIVISION sit comfortably inside the top 10 and should be favored.
The MongolZ face Lynn Vision in a regional derby that the Mongolian side has dominated recently. 3DMAX vs MIBR rounds out the notable matchups. NIP replaced Aurora, who withdrew over visa issues, and join a Group B that also includes Alter Ego.
Group B:
- PARIVISION
- The MongolZ
- Liquid
- NIP
- 3DMAX
- MIBR
- Lynn Vision
- Alter Ego
Why the Opener Matters
NiKo and s1mple last shared a server that mattered in Stockholm, November 2021. s1mple’s NAVI won that Major. NiKo’s G2 lost in the final. Both players have changed orgs, changed roles, and changed eras since then, but the personal stakes are obvious. NiKo now plays under karrigan, the IGL who rebuilt FaZe into a Major champion. s1mple plays under a converted analyst on a team that has never won a Tier 1 trophy.
A Bo1 opening round means volatility. One bad pistol, one force-buy conversion, and the loser drops to the lower bracket on day one. For Falcons, that is an inconvenience. For BC.Game, it could spiral.
Shanghai starts in 12 days. The Falcons-BC.Game opener is scheduled for May 20.
