The VCT EMEA Stage 1 group stage reaches its conclusion this week, with six matches across three days (April 29 through May 1) set to finalize the playoff bracket at the Riot Games Arena in Berlin. The top eight teams will advance to the double-elimination playoffs starting May 7, where three EMEA slots for Masters London are on the line.
The $1,000,000 international event takes place at the Copper Box Arena from June 6 to 21, making this final round-robin stretch the last chance for borderline teams to secure favorable seeding before the bracket locks in.
What Is Already Settled
FUT Esports completed Group Alpha with a perfect 4-0 record and claimed first place outright. Their map differential of +5 across 11 maps played paints the picture of a team that rarely looked vulnerable. FNATIC mirrored that dominance in Group Omega, also finishing 4-0 with the best round differential in the entire group stage at +27. Both teams have earned a first-round bye directly into the Upper Bracket Semifinals.
Team Liquid (3-1) and Gentle Mates (2-2) have clinched playoff berths from Group Alpha. In Group Omega, Eternal Fire (3-1) is locked in. PCIFIC Esports, winless at 0-4, have been officially eliminated, becoming the first team knocked out of the tournament.
Group Alpha: The Fourth Spot Is Still Open
The remaining drama in Group Alpha centers on the final playoff ticket. Team Heretics (2-2) secured a crucial 2-0 sweep over Gentle Mates in Week 4 to pull level with them in the standings. Natus Vincere (1-3) need a win over Karmine Corp (0-4) on April 30 and results elsewhere to go their way.
The key matchups this week are Team Heretics vs FUT Esports on April 29, NaVi vs Karmine Corp on April 30, and Gentle Mates vs Team Liquid on May 1. Heretics are favored for the fourth spot based on their round differential (+10 compared to NaVi’s -17), but nothing is mathematically sealed until the final map is played.
For NaVi, the situation is dire. They have been playing with stand-ins for much of the stage due to visa issues affecting ExiT, using both Kolosha and ComeBack as substitutes across different weeks. Consistency has been nearly impossible under those conditions. Even a win against Karmine Corp may not be enough if Heretics collect a single map elsewhere.
Group Omega: BBL, GIANTX, and Vitality Fight for Two Spots
Group Omega is tighter below the top two. BBL Esports (2-2) and GIANTX (2-2) both have realistic paths to the playoffs, while Team Vitality (1-3) need help. BBL picked up a vital 2-1 win over Vitality in Week 4, which may prove to be the result that decides the entire group.
The schedule here is straightforward: Vitality vs PCIFIC Esports on April 29 should be a formality given PCIFIC’s record. BBL vs FNATIC on April 30 is a tough draw for the Turkish side against the unbeaten group winners. GIANTX vs Eternal Fire on May 1 closes out the group stage entirely.
GIANTX enter this match knowing that a win could push them into Upper Bracket territory, while a loss may still be enough for a lower-bracket seed depending on BBL’s result. Eternal Fire, already locked into playoffs at 3-1, have less to play for in terms of qualification but can still influence their own seeding depending on FNATIC’s outcome against BBL.
Masters London 2026 Qualification at Stake
The playoffs bracket runs from May 7 to 17, and the top three finishers will represent EMEA at the Copper Box Arena in London. Group winners FUT and FNATIC start with a structural advantage thanks to their first-round byes. For everyone else, the Week 5 results will determine whether they open in the upper or lower bracket, and in a double-elimination format, that distinction matters.
EMEA’s three representatives at Masters Santiago earlier this year all exited before the semifinals: BBL Esports placed 5th-6th, Gentle Mates finished 7th-8th, and Team Liquid were eliminated in the Swiss Stage. None reached the top four. The region will be expected to deliver a stronger showing when Masters arrives on European soil this June.
